Serena loves to swim. There are periods where she still shows a a face of fear, but she has made it over a hump and is progressing. Here are some recent videos of Serena with her instructor Andrew.
At the end of each swim class Serena gets to go down the fun water slide.
Here is a picture of Serena from about 3 months ago in her fashionable swim suit.

A Lost Tooth
Last Thursday Julia, almost 5 1/2, declared, "something weird has happened." James and I were a bit worried when we asked, "What?" Julia replied, "My tooth is gone." Mind you, we never knew her tooth was loose. Apparently, she lost it 20 minutes earlier, according to her time keeping skills. In her own words, "I ate a cookie and my tooth came out." We were unable to locate the tooth. Swallowed, maybe? The tooth fairy still made an appearance and gifted Julia a new toothbrush and a fancy silver dollar.

Astronomy Hike
Tonight Julia, James and I headed to a free public function given through Inside the Outdoors Foundation. It was an Astronomy Hike. Mostly the hike was geared to school aged children, but I got a kick out of it and was happy to hike in the dark with no moon in sight. The hike was minor, down hill with switchbacks and flashlights in tow. It took about 45 minutes to get our night vision. Our guide Jordan told us stories of Orion and The Seven Sisters. Later, Julia told me that was her favorite part, seeing the constellations and hearing the stories about them. After the hike we climbed up to where the OC Astronomy Club member had setup their telescopes and took a peek into them. My favorite was Saturn. Pretty cool!

Swimming Laps
Little miss J is sure becoming a wonderful swimmer. It has been exciting to watch her progress from a 3 year old screaming during her swim lessons to a confident swimmer who truly is happy to swim. Here is a recent video of her during her warm up.
Here are few more pics that I think look kind of neat.
